Wedding: Tamara and Scott

After many months of planning, on February 26, 2011 I had the pleasure of coordinating the wedding of Tamara and Scott Garrett in McKinney, Texas. The intimate candlelit ceremony was contrasted by bright colorful, and fun elements in the reception. There was no doubt the event’s décor was customized to match Scott’s sensibilities and Tamara’s bubbly personality.

The Vows

From the beginning Scott and Tamara were clear that they wanted their ceremony to be representative of their Christian backgrounds. In order to reflect this throughout the ceremony, worship music was selected to set the tone. From the prelude and seating of the families, to the beautiful arrangement of the twenty-third Psalm (“Twenty-Three”) sung by Tamara’s brother, the atmosphere was undeniably centered around the Bride and Groom’s relationships with God. It was also essential to have the intimate feeling of friends and family surrounding them. We accomplished this by adding additional seating on the left and right wings of the room in order to get the guests as near to the Bride and Groom as possible.

The Cocktails

Immediately following the newlyweds exit from the ceremony, guests were whisked downstairs to the venue’s cocktail lounge, Rick’s 110, complete with dark hardwood floors, custom wine racks and touches of local history along the walls. Everyone sipped on wine and Rick’s original Sangria and nibbled on various cheeses while the ballroom was transformed for the reception.

The Party

Once everything was set, the guests re-entered the Grand Ball Room to find it transformed for a celebration. Accents of royal blue, green apple and peacock feathers were showcased under the sparkling chandeliers and amber up lighting. Tables were draped with ivory linens and royal blue runners. Three different floral centerpieces studded the Ball Room. The floral styling of Posh Floral’s owner, Angie Strange, stole the show with luxurious blue hydrangea, green roses, green orchids, peacock feathers and green apples.

The Sweets

Instead of favors, the couple opted for a candy bar which showcased candies in greens and blues. Unique vases housed the candy and were embellished with blue ribbon and customized labels. Clear bags with custom monogrammed seals were provided to the guests so they could scoop up their candy favorites and take them home.

The Eats

The heavy hors d’oeuvres menu had something for everyone. Mini martini and cordial glasses housed potatoes with beef tenderloin, Rick’s signature chopped salad, and shrimp with remoulade and cocktail sauces. Goat cheese on handmade crackers, corn cakes with barbecued beef, and classic tomato, mozzarella and basil bruschetta also made appearances among many others.

The culinary show stopper was dessert. Instead of traditional cakes, Scott and Tamara had carrot cake balls, petit fours, and decadent chocolate-chocolate cupcakes from Tart Bakery in Dallas. All of the individual desserts were displayed on beautiful custom cake stands decorated with coordinating blues and greens.

The Happily Ever After

After dancing the night away, Scott and Tamara exited down the grand staircase under a shower of white rose petals.

I had such a blast working on this event! Tamara and Scott were so much fun and wanted to make everything unique and a true celebration. Thank you for letting me be a part of your unique and colorful day!
