Wedding: Susanna and Phil

After a whirlwind of planning and excitement, on April 1, 2011 I had the joy of coordinating the wedding of Susanna and Phil Latham in Fort Worth, Texas. Following the formal ceremony at University Christian Church, guests gathered at The Ashton Depot in downtown Fort Worth to celebrate with the newlyweds’ marriage. The event was undoubtedly a reflection of Susanna and Phil’s love of Fort Worth surrounded by the dramatic elegance of the ceremony and reception venues and décor.

The Aisle
Though there were many impressive and beautiful elements at the ceremony, such as the resounding notes of the traditional pipe organ, perhaps nothing was quite as dramatic as the extraordinarily long aisle in the Sanctuary. Susanna’s long and purposeful stride down the aisle was the perfect beginning to a beautiful traditional ceremony with a modern flair.

The Cocktails
Following the ceremony, guests departed for the cocktail hour and reception at The Ashton Depot in downtown Fort Worth. Guests dined on short rib beef quesadillas and sipped wine while waiting on the honored bride and groom to arrive.

The Soiree
From my first meeting with Susanna, I couldn’t wait to design the décor of her reception. Her request for “Hollywood Regency” glamour was the perfect fit for feathers, luxurious ivories, decadent golds and plush florals. With the skilled eye of floral designer Angie Strange of Posh Floral, we called on gold tipped ivory roses, tall plumes of white ostrich feathers, candelabra framed with crystals, various antique floral vases and the oh-so-perfect, cherry-on-top pops of rich purple floral. From dripping crystals to candlelit tables, each table had a unique experience that contributed to the overall elegance of the room.

The Menu
There was something for everyone on the heavy hors d’oeuvres buffet. Guests dined on street tacos, Kobe beef sliders, sea bass ceviche, tamales, and chorizo sliders on this Tex Mex menu. Of course, we added the bride’s favorite five cheese macaroni for the perfect personal touch. Dessert was a to-die-for delicious wedding cake by celebrity baker, Megan Rountree, of Legacy Cakes in Grapevine, Texas. The modern and artistic rendition of the bride’s dress was detailed with gold and ivory marbled fondant.

The Serenade
After dancing the night away, Susanna surprised Phil and her guests by singing a few songs. And by “singing”, I mean that she brought the house down! That girl has got some pipes!

The Getaway
The happy couple exited under a blanket of white rose petals through their guests and into a carriage, a surprise by the groom for the bride. And, for the final touch, the groom, a Fort Worth police officer, finished off the night with a helicopter fly over by a few of his friends on the force. A perfect ending for a perfect couple.

I had such a great time working on this fun and glamorous wedding! Susanna and Phil kept me laughing and are very truly in love. Thank you for letting me be a part of your wedding, and I wish you the best!

A HUGE “thank you” to Katie Pinson of Half Orange Photography for these breathtaking photos! She’s an amazing photographer and even more amazing to work with!
